You may remember that in February of this year we reported that Thomas EASTWOOD, from Camberley,  was convicted of two counts of handling stolen goods and sentenced to 10 months imprisonment at Winchester Crown Court. At the time an application was made for the forfeiture, under the Proceeds of Crime Act, of a large sum of money which had been seized from EASTWOOD at the time of his arrest. The POCA hearing was heard in court on  Tuesday of this week. The Magistrate forfeited the £9000 seized from EASTWOOD as proceeds of crime and then issued him with costs of £2135, to add to the £1000 from the previous hearing.
We feel this sends out a strong message to offenders committing crime within the Hampshire area, and this case was made possible due to reports by Country watch members of his vehicle being seen in suspicious circumstances. Thank you for your continued support.
